Talking about pleasing people, have you ever thought about pleasing God first? This is very important, and it is something that we need to look into because it’s vital in our everyday lives.

How many times have you compromised your priorities, conscience, and family?

You will see shortly how King Herod killed John the Baptist because of his desire to please his daughter and the people at the event. So, I want you to know that Herod knew John the Baptist was from God and listened to him. But, I discovered Herod killed John the Baptist because of his ego.

If you desire to serve God, you should be careful about your ego!

How did Herod desire to please his daughter instead of Pleasing God?

In Luke 9:7-9, King Herod respected and feared John the Baptist as a great prophet and servant of God. John, however, did not fear chastising Herod for his adulterous relationships.

Herod, out of impulse and a desire to please his family; and friends, had John beheaded.

Now, his conscience is pricked when he hears that some think John the Baptist has risen. Herod sought to see Jesus more out of curiosity and fear than a sincere desire to know God and His Word.

If You are Pleasing People, Families, and friends first, you cannot please God.

In your everyday life, do you make decisions because you want to please God? Or do you make decisions because you want to please people around you?

As we read above, Herod killed John the Baptist to please everyone. I want you to know that if you are trying to please families and friends, there is no way you can please God.

Yes! like the Bible said, “the Lord guides people the way they should go and protect those who please Him.” (Psalms 37:23)

Another thing I would like you to know is; that the world loves its own. So if you do not belong to the world, the world will hate you (John 15:19). The world does not love you doesn’t mean that you will not love and forgive them; you have to because that is the power you have.

When you see yourself trying to please friends and families before God, something is wrong somewhere, and that is when you begin to sin against God. To be on the safer side, you should always try to please God first in all that you do because that is where the glory is.
